About the position:
The Web Group, as a part of the Direct Response and Integrated Marketing team is dynamic, collaborative, and dedicated to driving better marketing and fundraising integration. In a nutshell, we commit to creating clear and compelling web assets that support awareness of our programmatic impact, the initiatives behind them, and of our corporate, institutional, government and community partner relationships that drive our organization forward. The Web Group works as a small “agency” (within and between) the Marketing and Development (fundraising) departments responsible for Americares websites and periphery marketing online.
Working as part of Direct Response and Integrated Marketing, the Web Developer Senior Associate will work closely with the Senior Web Director and Associate Director in architecting, developing and executing WordPress websites and landing pages, ensuring platform maintenance, and providing proactive insights to front-end (and some back-end) solutions.
The Web Developer Senior Associate will need a broad set of skills and a commitment to expand those skills to support the Web Group and their external partners. The Web Group currently includes the Senior Web Director (content, client relations, marketing strategy, digital innovation) and the Associate Director of Web Design (projects, front-end dev, design).
Key Outcomes:
In the first 90 days, the Senior Associate will develop an understanding of the website and the sites supported on a full-stack level and begin learning the code side. They will begin to understand the work the team has been doing, their themes, and the outcomes of the accessibility audit. They will start remediation of accessibility audit outcomes.
In the first 6 months, the Associate will demonstrate competency in code deployment for Americares sites and a demonstrated understanding of the team’s larger framework outside of day-to-day support. They will also begin co-management of external agencies.
In the first year, the Associate will be able to take on and initiate projects that are new and essential to the organization’s progressive vision of our sites, and build integrations with other Americares digital platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist our Group in daily operations of our public-facing websites: primarily maintaining and troubleshooting in-house websites, and occasionally resolving web application and server-related issues.
Work closely with other members of our department (internal and external) to help identify and prioritize buckets of functionality that can be released together or in phases. Additionally, provide input when working with external providers to establish better workflow processes, maintenance routines, and deployment schedules.
Participate in the process of making strategic decisions around our platforms, also to be able to articulate and translate interdepartmental visions into tactical action plans and deliverables on the code end.
Work collaboratively across Marketing and Communications (esp. Multimedia, Content Development, Media Relations) and Direct Response to understand business priorities and technical feasibility; analyze the effectiveness of proposed system designs, and if needed communicate alternatives and absorb feedback.
