QUIC CDN dynamic and static cache stats
Need help setting up QUIC CDN on your website? Contact me, and I can help you, in exchange for a couple of coffees and a granola bar. (brain food)

There are many CDN (Content Delivery Network) options. Finding the right one, I think, should be determined which one is the right one for your specific setup and needs.

Since all of my websites run on the LiteSpeed™ Web Servers and use the LiteSpeed Cache, I decided to try the CDN created by the same LiteSpeed Technologies over at QUIC.cloud.

QUIC.cloud is more than a CDN

QUIC.cloud is a WordPress Acceleration Platform, the first and only complete WordPress optimization solution.

Complete Caching

QUIC.cloud caches your whole WordPress site. Most CDNs only deal with static content (images, CSS files, Javascript code, etc), but QUIC.cloud caches everything, including the dynamically-generated HTML page itself.

Plus, QUIC.cloud’s integration with the LiteSpeed Cache plugin ensures that your dynamic cache remains accurate.

When your content is stored in QUIC.cloud CDN-level cache, it can be served immediately upon request. Other CDNs must retrieve all dynamic requests from the site’s server before delivering the content to the visitor. In other words, QUIC.cloud lowers Time to First Byte (TTFB), by avoiding extra requests to your site’s server.

CDN Level Image Optimization

QUIC.cloud’s 100% FREE Image Optimization service reduces the size of your image files without sacrificing quality. Smaller images transfer more quickly and keep your WordPress site fast. When images are uploaded to your website, a LiteSpeed cache CRON will automatically send it to the CDN to be optimized. No need to manually optimize anything.

Images can have an enormous impact on the speed of a website. Large, high-quality images take a long time to transmit. QUIC.cloud’s Image Optimization feature takes your original JPG and PNG images, condenses them for quicker transport, and optionally saves them in the efficient WebP format. With Image Optimization, QUIC.cloud builds the smallest possible image while retaining the same quality as the original. Speed your site up, and improve Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and First Contentful Paint (FCP) scores along the way!

Page Optimization

QUIC.cloud’s Page Optimization services reduce CSS bloat and page loading inefficiencies.

Critical CSS: Use QUIC.cloud’s Critical CSS (CCSS) service slashes your site’s perceived load time, presents fully styled above-the-fold content, and achieves faster First Contentful Paint (FCP). CCSS is the minimum CSS code necessary to format content for the first paint. CCSS is inserted inline with the page’s HTML. Then, even if the full CSS files are loaded more slowly than the page HTML, your site avoids the dreaded Flash of Unstyled Content (FOUC).

Unique CSS: Use QUIC.cloud’s Unique CSS (UCSS) service to remove unused CSS definitions and bloat and achieve a speedier page load overall. UCSS is the exact CSS code necessary to style a particular page from start to finish. By combining all of the page’s inline and external CSS into a single file and discarding any elements that are not in use by the current page, file size is dramatically reduced, and the precious processing time is saved.

Low-Quality Image Placeholders: Use QUIC.cloud’s Low-Quality Image Placeholder (LQIP) service to minimize Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) in a stylish way. Lazy loading typically comes with a standard grey box holding the place of your full-size images. With LQIP, those generic stand-ins are replaced with blurred and minified versions of your original full-size images. They give your users a hint of what’s to come, and make your site stand out from the crowd, all while keeping the CLS Core Web Vital in the green zone.

Viewport Images: Placeholders have their place, but that place shouldn’t be above the fold! If the first screenful of content your visitors see is dominated by image placeholders, VPI can help. Customized for each URL, QUIC.cloud calculates a list of images that will be visible on a standard screen. Those images are then excluded from lazy loading for that URL. The result is beautiful above-the-fold imagery fully displayed without delay.

Total Protection

Security-conscious site admins have been protecting themselves with various WordPress plugins since the first time somebody got hacked. And while plugins have their place, nothing beats the effectiveness of stopping attackers at the CDN level before they can do serious damage to your site or its resources.

  • CDN-level reCAPTCHA
  • CDN-level Brute-force attack protection
  • Layer-7 DDoS protection
  • Custom-targeted protections
  • Web Application Firewall Rules

Brute-Force Attack Protection: QUIC.cloud’s built-in WordPress Brute-Force Attack Protection mitigates large-scale brute-force attacks common in WordPress environments. Brute Force attacks usually target wp-login.php and xmlrpc.php pages with repeated attempts to guess a valid username and password. WordPress does not natively limit the number of login attempts, giving attackers ample opportunity gain admin access and hack your site. Such attacks can be relentless and have been known to bring down entire servers. QUIC.cloud’s Brute Force protection works at the CDN level, and no extra plugin is required.

CDN-level reCAPTCHA: It’s common practice to protect login pages and form submissions from abuse with reCAPTCHA challenges, but by the time these application-level reCAPTCHA challenges are issued, precious server resources are being used to handle the barrage of requests, and your site is slowing down, or worse, crashing completely. With QUIC.cloud, reCAPTCHA is employed at the CDN level to repel DDoS attacks. Malicious actors are stopped before they have the opportunity to hit any application pages or consume any site resources. This umbrella of protection keeps your site moving quickly and smoothly. reCAPTCHA only takes effect when QUIC.cloud detects an attack, and the sensitivity level is configurable on a site-by-site basis.

Layer-7 DDoS Protection: Also known as the Application Layer. Application Layer attacks are particularly effective because they consume server resources as well as network resources. And they are common because they take relatively few resources to launch. QUIC.cloud CDN uses sophisticated, statistics-based sensing for detecting Layer 7 DDoS attacks and vigilantly thwarts attacks in progress.

Custom-Targeted Protections: With configurable allowlist and blocklist capabilities, QUIC.cloud CDN puts access control in your hands. Allow or block visitors by IP address, user agent, or visitor geolocation.

Web Application Firewall Rules: QUIC.cloud CDN provides Web Application Firewall (WAF) protection. Keep your domain safe with intelligent Botnet detection and automatic blocking of known malicious IP addresses.
